How to Display Vintage Vases with Branches, Buds, and Beautiful Empty Space
Simple ways to style vintage vases with a single stem, coastal branch, or nothing at all.
A vintage vase does not require a large bouquet to earn its place. Often a single stem, a dry branch, or an empty opening is enough to draw attention to the shape and surface of the object itself.
Work with the opening
A narrow neck asks for one branch. A round mouth can take a looser cluster. Do not force abundance into a vessel that looks best with restraint.
Use uneven heights
Pair a small bud vase with a taller form, then place them a little off-center. The gap between the two is part of the composition.
Let colour do less
When a vase is brightly glazed, keep the stems quiet. A pale eucalyptus branch, a single white bloom, or a bare piece of coastal wood lets the object remain the subject.
